#1: Fortnight
When it comes to battle royal games, Fortnight is king. In a little over two years, Epic Games has turned its free-to-play title into a phenomenon that made over $1 billion in profit during 2018 alone. With content coming out consistently every week, including new modes like 50 vs 50 and exciting limited time modes like Cube Gun where you can wield your opponents’ weapons against them, there’s always something to keep you playing Fortnite for hours on end.
#2: H1Z1
H1Z1, sometimes referred to as The Z-One is an intense zombie survival game, originally made available on PC. However, it’s now also available on consoles and mobile devices. There are three main modes that players can choose from: Free for All (FFA), Battle Royale, and Solo. Each mode has a different feel and requires players to try something a little different to succeed!

For Battle Royale fans, Apex Legends might feel a little too similar to Fortnight. That being said, it is fun enough on its own that you should be playing it if you want to play Battle Royale games. It sounds familiar—after all, it’s a Hunger Games-esque twist on battle royal shooters like H1Z1 or Fortnight—but PUBG differs because it relies less on twitchy mechanics and more on pure strategy.
#5: Rainbow Six Siege
Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege came out of nowhere last year to become one of 2015’s biggest success stories. For me, it was also one of last year’s most-played games—I spent over 300 hours with it. That probably says more about my life than anything else, but still: It’s rare for a competitive shooter to pull me back in repeatedly, but Siege managed to do just that.
